Invisible to the Naked Eye
Every Wilson loudspeaker undergoes the same paint process. A gel coat underlayer ensures an absolutely smooth surface. This is sanded prior to receiving the first of three layers of color primer. Once the primer has cured, eight layers of automotive-quality paint are applied by hand in a paint chamber filtered to keep out any contaminants larger than 2 microns. Finally, the finish is buffed and wet-sanded to a high polish. Every loudspeaker is then visually inspected for flaws, some of which would be invisible to the naked eye. That's why Robert Stiffler is inspecting a Sophia cabinet with his magnifier. Does it make a difference to him that it's a Sophia instead of a MAXX or Alexandria? Hardly. When it comes to our loudspeakers, passion for quality doesn't have a price point. |

The last thing we do in the manufacture
of our loudspeaker enclosures—the application of the WilsonGloss™
finish—is apt to be the first thing the
customer notices in the showroom.
It's the immediate visual expression
of the attention to detail that underlies
everything else we do.
