Rocky Mountain Audiofest 2009 Wilson Audio Sasha W/Ps were chosen by two esteemed electronics companies to pair with their sources and amplifiers at this year's Rocky Mountain Audiofest, held in Denver October 2-4. Wilson's most indefatigable road warrior, Director of Sales Peter McGrath, is standing in the Ayre room, where the Sashas were paired with the Ayre MX-R solid state amps and Transparent Audio Cables. When he's not circumnavigating the globe, Peter makes digital recordings that are the stuff of legend in the audio community. Visitors to the Ayre room had the opportunity to hear several of those high resolution digital masters as source material. Stereophile's Jason Victor Serinus gives his impressions here. Attendees at this year's Audiofest had the opportunity to hear Sashas paired with both solid state amps (above) and Reference Series tube electronics from Audio Research (right). In addition to the Reference 110 Power Amp, the system featured the Reference 5 Preamplifier and CD-8 Reference CD Player. All cables and power conditioning was by Shunyata. Audio Alternatives, the Fort Collins dealer, provided listeners another unique opportunity: to hear the identical electronics and cables via two very different speaker systems. This they accomplished by outfitting two identical rooms with identical gear, save for the loudspeakers. The AudioBeat's Marc Mickelson describes his experience in the two rooms here. |
